SUPERNATURAL Y'ALL.

The following contains fanblabbery and SPOILERY. And some blabbing about angels.

*Ryuuka and I were discussing what AWESOME might have happened if Jensen had gotten the chance to play Michael!Dean. Which prompted us to first find pictures to try and imagine it, then prompted me to want to draw this craziness. And after reading some things about the biblical lore surrounding Michael and learning from Robbie (cuz srsly guys she knows her bible shit BI) I just went a little nuts with fun creepy/scary angel imagery. PILLARS OF FIRE WITH MULTIPLE FACES AND THOUSANDS OF EYES. Holycrap.


The only actual description of Michael in 'angel form' that I found in biblical text was once he appeared to a guy as a pillar of fire stretching from earth to the heavens, so I had a little creative fun with this. Cuz otherwise he usually appears as just a dude, a very pretty dude, but still just a dude. And that's not nearly as fun is it?



Ps- I'm sure you all know but... I don't own Supernatural or the characters/storylines etc. They belong to the magical Eric Kripke and Warner Bros. I used video and compilations of photos of Jensen Ackles to create this image so as to not steal anything copyrighted :B

This is totally insane. I cannot get enough of that background-- there's something about the play of the cool silvery colors juxtaposed with the bright golden light that is just delicious, and the many faces and eyes? YES. There is a lot of weird-ass angel lore out there but a lot of artists take it very literally and just draw a beast with multiple heads or whatever, whereas this gives the impression of something that appears almost human and yet just behind it, smoky and out of sight, lies this massive, unknowable, brutal thing with a divine mandate. It's beautiful here, and very true to the spirit of Supernatural's angels.

It's also amazing how the impassive expression you gave him here makes him not look like Dean, despite the facial features being Dean's facial features down to the smallest detail. It perfectly captures that thing the actors do on the show when their characters are possessed; with just a slight shift in attitude and expression you can tell something is wrong and different about them. Perfect.

Oh man, when I realized the smoke tendrils outlined actual faces I freaked out. I love this <3 I wish there were more Michael!Dean images.

Oh wow, this piece is actually what I'd call beautiful. I don't use the word beautiful very much because I feel saying it too often cheapens it. Beauty is rare, and though everything is beautiful, on rare occasions should anyone call something beautiful. This is beautiful. So yeah. Congratulations :)
